what do the following albums have in common?

if you answered "each blew steve's mind upon first listen and continue to do so today" you'd be correct. and so....
this past week i heard sung tongs by animal collective for the first time and it is so beautifully weird that i just had to mention it here. i've read the phrase "psychedelic folk" used to describe this album's sound. i'm not sure what that means but there is definitely a lot more going on here than just acoustic guitar and strange lyrics. layered samples (bird noises, angelic voices, bongos) weave in and out of these songs. sometimes the lyrics aren't even words. stuff sounds backwards at times. if you like your music a little off centered, you gotta check this out. but be warned - this one's more than a little off center.
