blue = land

when people back home ask me how i like living in new york, i usually respond with a shrug of the shoulders and an "it's alright." this past weekend showed me that although this may not be my favorite location in the world and although i have had trouble meeting people, the people i do know down here are pretty awesome. i'll make sure i emphasize that the next time i'm asked about new york.

the birthday gathering saturday night was lots of fun. kevin (kim's little brother), gina, drew and i each put together a playlist to be listened to during the night. it was sort of a challenge issued by kevin and it made for some friendly competition. gina and kevin's lists were the most well received by everybody so if it was truly a competition, they won. i was a little disappointed that the song i threw together featuring napoleon dynamite samples was not as well received as one would expect from a room full of napoleon dynamite fanatics. but what can you do?

i made out with some sweet gifts. i got the die hard trilogy from gina and watched number 1 on sunday afternoon. courtney gave me what seemed like every candy ever made on top of a book about the red sox last season. i got maria full of grace and some crazy records from drew. kim bestowed some cool clothes upon me. with the best buy giftcard from kevin, i bought the first season of arrested development.

i'd never seen arrested development before and upon watching the first six episodes of season one, i'm hooked. actually, i was hooked after the first few minutes of the first episode if you want to get technical. great show, awesome cast, amazing writing. i can see why it's on the verge of cancellation.

you know you're getting old when after two hours of basketball you feel as though you just played three playoff football games. to be fair, i did get less winded this time out. but my ankles are laughing at me today. i can hear their chuckles.

digging the new kills cd, no wow, a lot. i don't remember liking their previous one this much. after three weeks, the lcd soundsystem cd still makes me dance around the apartment when no one's looking.
