snippet of front seat conversation
(while waiting for brother plus one to return to car)

"my kids...i have two daughters. they know."
"yeah?"
"yup. and i have great relationships with them."
"that's cool."
"and my wife has accepted that this is who i am. she's probably even my best friend."
"that's pretty awesome."
"it took me some time to accept it myself...but i don't regret it."
"no?"
"not at all. i have them in my life because of it."
"that's a really great way to look at it."
"thanks."
"sure."
"soooo...?"
"so?"
"tell me your story."
"my story?"
"yeah. your story."
"i'm not really sure what you mean."
"just tell me about yourself."
"i wouldn't know where to start."
"fair enough. let me ask you a question then."
"go ahead."
"....what would you do...if i leaned over and kissed you?"
"i would probably pull away."
"probably?"
"well, yeah. that would make me very uncomfortable."
"how do you know?"
"what?"
"how can you be sure?"
"i guess i kind of just know. and i mean...my brother is gay. so...like...what are the chances there'd be two of us in the same family?"
"you'd be surprised."
"i...i guess i would be."
