"hey! i'm starting to feel ok."

saturday night started off at mark and adam's where they taught me how to play poker. mark decided that the two losing hands had to drink a shot of wine after each round. why? good question! i'd never done wine shots but i was game as long as i didn't get too drunk to meet linde once she got off of work. when adam and i saw that mark had pretty much accumulated all the chips, we bet him that if one of us somehow came back to win, he would have to drink whatever wine was left in the bottle. at that point there was probably a good 3/7ths of a bottle left. mark laughed at us and agreed to the bet just as i was drenched by the beginner's luck superwave. the next thing we knew, adam and i were cackling, high-fiving and yelling at mark to "drink!!! drink!!!" mark was a great sport and held up his end of the bet. after that, things got a little crazy in that "i really don't understand what is going on right now but i'm having so much fun" way. when i finally summoned the nerve to leave, i thought to myself how lucky i am to know mark and adam.

when i got to linde's, we did a jager shot and began to drink vodka-wines. yup, you read that correctly. wine and vodka in the same glass! why? because i'm retarded and linde's a great sport. we should have known we were in trouble when ramona the russian arrived, sampled our alcoholic concoction, did a spit-take and asked for something else right after declaring "i'll drink anything!". yeah, so linde and i kept drinking vodka-wines and did a jager shot with ramona. i think we did more shots when ramona left and jennifer and stephanie stopped by but i honestly cannot remember too clearly. oh yeah, i think i puked a little on linde's bathroom rug!!! i woke up in my clothes on the couch at 8ish perhaps and learned that i'd blacked out for the first time in a while. i never even made it to my car to grab my backpack in which i'd packed pajamas, a toothbrush and the office and weeds dvd's for linde. oh well. vodka-wines are no joke, people!!!

anyway, linde and i hung out for a while sunday morning, laughing about the previous night. when we looked at my pictures, there were a bunch i didn't remember taking. then i headed home and she headed to work. how she managed to work all day after an evening laced with vodka-wines i'll never know!

best weekend, yo.

i couldn't sleep sunday night thanks to the bURRess ending to superbowl XLII (congratulations giants fans, your team deserved to win). i needed something to take my mind off of asante samuel's dropped interception that would have sealed perfection so from 3am to 4:30am i watched the first three episodes of season 2 of weeds. damn, i forgot how awesome that show is. i thought the cliffhanger that ended the first season was crazy but HOLY FREAKIN' SHIT! the season 2 cliffhanger is like season 1's on a 'roid-rage fueled cocaine binge. unbelievable, yo!

i spent $10 on a magazine last night and don't regret it. the new issue of mojo (imported from londontown) has an amazingly thorough story about the making of radiohead's in rainbows. i had just read a similar story in the latest rollingstone and it's pretty incredible how much the mojo story blows that one out of the water. english people are lucky to have the music magazines they do. anyway, as i sat on my bed last night reading the story, it reminded me of reading a similarly thorough story in mojo some 7+ years ago while living in newton about the making of kid a. i'm a dork.

vampire weekend released their debut album last week and it's been the subject of a lot of debate on music blogs lately. since the disc was only $8.99 (less than mojo!) at newbury comics last night, i decided to check it out. my verdict after one day/two listens? it's a pretty fun cd.

this
song had me bouncing along on my way to work this morning. its lyrics make me think of linde, which is a nice bonus.

this song by lightspeed champion is another recent favorite and its video makes me love it even more. read the signs!

"why should i stay here?"

please do me a favor and watch this performance of "weird fishes/arpeggi" by radiohead from their appearance on "later with jools holland"

it's a beautiful song by my favoritest band. when ed comes in with those backing vocals it's one of those moments that makes me want to reach down my throat, pull out my heart, throw it onto the floor and stomp on it until i die.
