two salamis
for my birthday, mom got me two red sox tickets because she kicks ass. she let me pick the game so i chose a weekday afternoon contest versus the kansas city royals. i think the last game i'd been to was with mark back in 2000 or something so i was extremely excited about getting to see tito's boys in person. woo hoo!!
when thursday, may 22nd finally came, linde and i headed to fenway park and had ourselves a sweet afternoon. thanks, mom!!!
on the walk to the park we got passed by double papis!
daisuke matsuzaka fires a pitch to the plate. i was excited when i learned he'd be pitching.
manny ramirez plays left field under a sign that shows his total career home runs. it's a big deal anytime someone amasses 500 career hrs so the count has been on this season. manny reached the milestone this weekend in baltimore, becoming only the 24th major leaguer ever to do so (and the third to do it in a red sox uniform). it's hard not to love manny unless your name is tony colonna and you think he's a nasty-ass slob.

the royals have a pitcher with the last name of "gobble." whenever he threw a ball or gave up a hit i yelled "you suck, turkeyman!!!" yes, i am lame.
manny ramirez, jacoby ellsbury, dustin pedroia and kevin youkilis congratulate mike lowell for hitting a grand slam!! and this was the SECOND GRAND SLAM of the day for the red sox!!! j.d. drew hit the first one. linde and i couldn't believe that they hit two salamis in the same game. woo hoo!!!!

jonathan papelbon covers first base for the out. the crowd went absolutely nuts when he entered the game. as he made his way to the mound, some people behind us were doing his patented riverdance to the dropkick murphys song that was blasting on the p.a. it gave me chills.
